Honey aus Dörnchen FCI
Honey aus Dörnchen FCI in her first year in Biesenthal (2015)

We owe many healthy excellent dogs to our dear friend Brigitte Engel and her passion for the dachshund, which she lived with skin and hair for almost 40 years, and the enormous work she did with it. Her always good advice without a punch, her loving support and especially her encouragement led to the foundation of the DTK-Kennel “Botzensteiners” as she had also set up the kennel “aus Dörnchen FCI” for her son when he was still a youngster, but then it was actually run by her. Not every plan works out in the end.

When it became clear that all courage and energy would no longer help, she asked us to take over her then reigning dachshund princess, Honey aus Dörnchen FCI, when she herself was to embark on her final journey, which she then actually did on November 11th, 2015, already and far too early, to the grief of the dachshund world.

G-Wurf vom 04. Juli 2016 (Engels Harlekin x Honey aus Dörnchen FCI)
G-Litter from July 4th, 2016 (Engels Harlekin x Honey aus Dörnchen FCI)

Honey is an anatomically excellently built, light and elegant dachshund lady with an excellently pigmented brown coat and a friendly, as Brigitte once quite rightly said, funny nature. She grasps things quickly and if things don’t work out, it is impossible to get angry with her. When she feels good, she throws herself on her back, forms her beautiful almond eyes into little slits and – grins!

Born on February 11th, 2009, she became National Junior Winner and German Junior Champion VDH in 2010 and National Winner and Club Winner in 2011; where ever she was shown she achieved an “excellent”.

After she had settled in very well and we had her thoroughly examined, we decided to repeat the litter that Brigitte Engel already had in mind. The mating with our Engels Harlekin, which already produced such good results in 2014 – after all, 2 x National Junior Winner in 2015 – was actually supposed to be repeated in 2015, but at that time the dogs had too much fun together and preferred to roll around in pleasure rather than thinking about reproduction. This time, however, in the garden in a free natural mating, everything worked out. As Harlekin is a black dapple and a brown carrier, we could expect anything, but it is great that it has become the most colourful row possible! 5/3 puppies have been living in the litter box since July 4th, 2016, all of them nice and even in weight, vital and always hungry.

Five boys are brown dapples, plus one brown dappled girl, one black dappled and a pure brown (with markings) bitch each have been living in the litter box since 04 July 2016. Although still without sight and hearing, they have already managed to conquer our hearts!
