Xenodike is the youngest offspring from a kind that is particularly widespread among short-haired miniature dachshunds. She doesn’t ask. She assesses the situation and then does; she has no doubts, but rights and otherwise she does her own thing, as they say.

Unlike her mother Matilda, she sees no sense in chasing mosquitoes, butterflies or sparrows. That’s too inefficient for her. With her nose to the ground she exercises control over the population of mice and woe to the cat who thinks the perimeter of the property is unsecured! When the red kite circles in summer, she silently gazes at the sky and makes eyes like Chuck Norris while loudly announcing her displeasure when the stork has enough of his young and thinks he wants to come to rest on our barn roof.

Xenodike is an exception among the red dappled dachshunds insofar as her tiger markings remained well contoured and high-contrast visible even in adulthood. Her hair, which is excellent in color and quantity, flatters her feminine appearance and sets her in the limelight perfectly when she puts her excellent gait into operation with verve.
